I completed a Super Spartan race today. It was around 10-11...</title><description>&lt;img src="http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ma46m4HnXp1qijprjo1_500.jpg"/&gt;&lt;br/&gt; &lt;br/&gt;&lt;img src="http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ma46m4HnXp1qijprjo2_500.jpg"/&gt;&lt;br/&gt; &lt;br/&gt;&lt;img src="http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ma46m4HnXp1qijprjo3_500.jpg"/&gt;&lt;br/&gt; &lt;br/&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I completed a Super Spartan race today. It was around 10-11 miles long. Uphill. Downhill. Uphill again. And so on and so forth. It was intense. And insane. And I can’t believe I did it! There were a bunch of obstacles though too. And I attempted them all. Not all successful, but all given my best shot. And there were ones I thought I’d fail for sure and have to do burpees, but then I did it! And that’s an amazing feeling.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;And all the other racers were so friendly. For some of the wood wall climb/jumps that got really high, I made some of them on my own, but after a few my arms were shot and I fell and then these guys helped guide me up, a tiny boost. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Even when we were at the lake and we had to swim across and under the canoes in the way, but over the dock in the middle. I couldn’t get myself up on the dock because I was so weighed down with my shoes and clothes, and tired from the other obstacles. I kept trying and slipping. And this guy out of nowhere just grabs my hand and beasts me all the way up with one arm. Pretty awesome. I thought I’d end up pulling him in. He’s definitely a Spartan.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I went with a friend and he stayed with me parts of the way. I’d wave him on during some of the more intense parts for me when I was just crazy tired and slow. But every once and a while I’d see him again. Catch up. And then see him at the end when I finished. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We did this jump from like a 25-30ft ledge into the water. It was greattt. What a weird experience. You actually have time to think about the fact that you’re stillll falling as you fall. hah. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I was unsure, and scared, and nervous about most obstacles before I did them. I’d wait for ever sometimes just watching other people do it, before I psych myself up to go. I’d imagine all the things that could go wrong and think about how I avoid them. But on others I’d be like I dunno.. I dunno. For a sec. And then just go for it. And to just go for something. Even when you’re unsure. Despite the fear. It’s a rush. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I unfortunately didn’t train for this race like I intended to. I made mistakes. I tired myself out this week with drinking and late nights, and going out. I didn’t eat a proper breakfast this morning. But I still did it. I’ve never done a race before, not even a 5K. And to have my first completed race be a Super Spartan. I love it. I didn’t know how I’d get through it, but after hours and hours eventually I too did jump that fire and run through the finish line. So I was slow. I’m just glad I finished. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;And if I can truck through and find a way through that craziness. I know I’ll be okay, and I can do things I think I can’t. Things I wouldn’t believe. Things I’m afraid of, that I think too much about. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;There was a guy talking while we were trekking up an incline. And I heard him say. That this type of experience changes you and how the first time he did a race like this, it changed him. Maybe that sounds melodramatic. Or corny. But I believe it. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Starting out the year with this under my belt feels good. Even though right now my body feels bad and in much pain. Stinging cuts. Sore muscles. Blisters. Bruises. Etc. But it was worth it. As much as I was cursing the miles through. It still was. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;So I’m deciding to abandon this separate fit/exercise/health side blog I had to my personal everything blog. I realize that being healthy and making better life choices, which include choices on exercise and nutrition should not be looked at as something apart from the rest of my life. I have one life. And all the aspects within it all go together and affect one another. After having completed this race, all the obstacles I had to go through and push through and try and try and try as hard as I can, are all relevant to my everyday life. So, this blog is done. Trying to get some more exercise. Did about 50  lengths of the pool. I’m not exactly sure what would be considered a lap, if it’s just one length of the pool, or it’s back and forth. If it’s back and forth then I did about 25 laps I guess. Breast stroke. Froggy style. I can never keep the water from traveling down my nose and throat with free style. For a while I just listened to music while treading water, or doggy paddling haha. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The pool was at its warmest from baking in the sun all day. My lungs kept feeling like they were about to burst from the pressure, from the lack of oxygen, from the lack of exercise. I need to keep myself moving. TIme is running out before the race in September and I’ve been in a rut of starting and stopping exercise. And a slew of other bad habits that don’t help…&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I haven&amp;#8217;t ran in a while. I haven&amp;#8217;t been eating mindfully.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Once summer started I&amp;#8217;ve been having more all nighters than when I was at school, getting less sleep than I know I should. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Working. Hanging out. Being tired. That was my summer.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Occasionally, I would go on walks with my dog and boyfriend. But they&amp;#8217;d only be about 3 miles at most, at a pretty easy pace.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;My friend saw a deal for a Spartan Super Race. We had both talked about how we wanted to try a spartan race one day. ONE DAY. But he bought it already, and then implored me to do so as well. And another friend bought one too.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I thought I&amp;#8217;d first start out with a Spartan Sprint, and be killed by that. But to go straight to a Super Spartan in the terrible shape I&amp;#8217;m in. What was I thinking?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Because I bought it.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This is crazy.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;What have I done.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I can&amp;#8217;t even fathom how it&amp;#8217;ll go.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The race is September 9th. Oh god oh god.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Time to make some changes in my summer schedule. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I don&amp;#8217;t even know what to do, how to even prepare for something like this as a person who is not in the least ready. It was dark and no one was there. At least when I started.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2 laps in, I see these two figures walking across the field. I figure, alright whatever maybe they want to run too, or they’re just cutting through to somewhere else. I forget about them until a short while later when I reach the other side of the track and accidentally interrupt their make out session against the fence underneath the scoreboard.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;WHOOPS…. I ran around them awkwardly. And the picked up and moved out walking back across the field. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;But they never reached the other side. They disappeared in the middle by the athletic storage hut things and I never saw them emerge again.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Which left me feelin’ slightly odd as I continued to go around the track thinking I was circling these people as they did their “couple” things…or who knows what. But I continued anyway. Ended. Walked back to the busstop and went home. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Odd as it was. This late exercise sesh was a good idea. I feel great.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I finished the first mile at about 11 minutes, almost 12. &lt;p&gt;My endomondo tracker says walking. Because I don’t feel like I can justify listing it as running when I took a bunch of walk breaks. I’m not fit enough to run the whole way. But I will in time. I will.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Anyway. I have my route listed as both running/walking. The time stats change with the activity. Why doesn’t endomondo have a “jogging” setting…meh oh well.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Did 20 pushups and 30 crunches. Not much. But I’ll increase in time.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Also. I took a picture when I came back in. All sweaty and gross. Opened up photobooth and saw that other picture of me with the fruit by the foot.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Salad with boiled shrimp. Balsamic dressing. Slice of Torta…which for me as a Filipino was a sort of scrambled egg type deal with potatoes and shrimp as the meat of it. This one also contained some veggies in it.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I didn’t really measure to count calories. It gets a little difficult with Filipino food unless I made it myself and cut it into exact pieces…which doesn’t really happen.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;But I’ve told myself I can still eat healthily without it being so hard or tedious. There was a time that I lost weight, by counting everything. And after I had gone down like 10-15lbs I stopped counting and just ate normally with the exception of sweets and junk food binging which I used to do a lot.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;And I stayed at that lower weight for a while. Without counting. But then I started to get too relaxed with my eating and started having junk food and sweets binges like I used to. I started stress eating. And boredom eating. And I started to gain some weight back.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;So. Here’s to going back to better proportions and better food choices, without an iron fist on calorie count. ;)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Also had another mug of water with my meal. I missed dinner, and thought I’d be really hungry this morning. Didn’t think I was actually going to get up at 5, but I wasn’t feeling well so I needed to take a shower and clear up my sinuses and such, drink some water etc. So I figured I might as well go on and start my day! This was the breakfast I prepared for myself thinking I’d be pretty hungry. I didn’t finish it.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I had…&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;-1 slice raisin bread toast&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;-spread of peanut butter… (exact amount unknown…whoops)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;-slices of bananas, as seen ontop of bread&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;-1 grapefruit&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I didn’t end up eating the rest of the banana on the plate, or the babybel cheese.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I love Babybel. But I can eat that later as a snack.
